Cannabis India- SWF Session (1973)

At the end of the 60ies, a waning influence of the beat- and psychedelic rock era had many German musicians turn their attention towards a new music genre, which the English later, somewhat disrespectfully, called “Krautrock”. This development took its start in the music capitals, from where it eventually spread to the hinterland. And so it happened that in Wuppertal (approx. 20 km southeast of Düsseldorf) young musicians were looking for their own musical ways of expression. The most prominent band from this region that became popular nationwide was the band Hölderlin. Their name remains familiar with all lovers of “Krautrock” until today. Other bands that produced “Rock made in Wuppertal” weren’t able to achieve the success they deserved, in spite of their potential. The gap between amateurs and half-professional musicians was steadily increasing; one obstacle on the way to success was the equipment expenses ( a band had to fork out at least 10 000 € for amplifier and instruments), but also the increasingly demanding audience put an end to many an ambitious school band.
Very good, previously unknown, heavy keyboard-driven progressive band who never made an album. Shocking that something this good could be sitting in the vaults, ignored and forgotten, for 36 years!
a bit of a forgotten band,I liked them, thanks for the reminder!
"Another forgotten pearl from the vaults of radio station SWF, Germany. Like Coupla Prog or other delights from the early '70s who never made an album, Cannabis India, founded 1971 in the region of Düsseldorf, show their great talent playing their own compositions influenced by groups like The Nice or ELP. Bandleader and organ-player Oliver Petry studied piano from the early age of seven. When he heard Keith Emerson for the first time he changed his instrument and played organ with great enthusiasm. Together with drummer Rüdiger Braune (in the '80s with Gianna Nannini) and furious bass-player Dirk Fleck, Cannabis India run through their pieces with infernal speed but also with a sense of drama. The nearly 12 minute epic 'Lapis' and 11 minutes adaption of Beethoven's 9th show what Cannabis India music was all about. CD comes with 2 bonus tracks from follow-up band Universe. Digitally remastered from original master tapes and band story.
Don't miss it a bit of a forgotten band.
@Miguel Campoviejo, I liked them, thanks for the reminder!

The pleasure is on my side
Yep,listening, talking, discovering new music from the past,
This is what I like and I love (my wife will not be jealous ... hehehe)
Oh,my friend always said some bands had records only purchased by me,
you know, we are in the blood, just the music ...... ha ha ha
drink good beer, whiskey, sometimes ......... or other bad things! there is nothing better (except for women), sometimes we talk all night, our record is over 10 hours
and you know what,we are free fucking, from the cares of this world!
A hug!

Hello Adam .... totally agree with what you write ... the music is wonderful, and always discover something unknown, group, album, song ..... and if you have time, and your wife's permission, the better. I have much time, and is why I am discovering many bands and albums that did not even know existed ...... tomorrow one of those public records ... recorded in 1973, and remained unpublished, or vinyl or cassette, until 1998 to come out on cd ..... and is very good

Hey Miguel,
hmm .. this in my free time does not look too good ... 14-16 hours my work , 4 hours to the division for the family and my passion and 4 h of sleep ... and so from Monday to Friday

For almost 30 years of listening to music, exploring the various neglected performers...classic Roka, has long been on my shelves from nearly 10 years, I focus on search for obscure albums,
I'm passionate about music that era, once there was no Internet,(see the lack of a large influx of discs) and the LP difficult and expensive! as something fell into your hands, listen to the album throughout the week every day .... many albums in this way zaskarbiło my heart ...Good Lord, rock'n'roll will never die, it's like the eternal fire, still burning in my heart, till the end of the world and one day more....lol
I have no idea, where, I take, this strength. I have close contact with Eric,Val,Nel,BoBo59,DanP,Laurent,Edson,mdhjhw is my good friend! and yet few people many hours talked about music, my collection is not as impressive , probably, as Your
hmmm, not have an uncle millionaire ... hehehe, and unfortunely I do not have such collection,
