The Albion Band - Stella Maris (1987 UK)

The Albion Band - Rise Up Like The Sun (1978 UK)

Con el nombre de The Albion Dance Band publicarían el interesante disco "The prospect before us" (1977) y bajo el apelativo de The Albion Band notables Lps como "Rise up like the sun" (1978) o "Lark rise to candleford" (1980).

Group folk-rock British founded in 1972 by bassist Ashley "Tyger" Hutchings, husband of singer Shirley Collins and former member of bands such as Fairport Convenion and Steeleye Span. The Albion Country Band emerged as a group to accompany Shirley, before starting to turn and independent record as a whole. With Collins published the album "No Roses" (1971). Its components were, in addition to Hutchings, the singer Royston Wood, guitarist Steve Hashley, guitar and vocalist Simon Nicol, drummer Dave Mattacks and violinist Sue Draheim. The group was a project of traditional British folk infusion electricity without losing the foundation acoustic and reminiscences medieval and Morris Dance, an English folk tradition from the time of the Crusades and Muslim descent, with energetic dance-type ritual. The feature throughout the history of the band was the constant movement between members of the training, through its ranks of world folk important personages as Richard Thompson, Linda Thompson or the Shirley Collins. In 1973 and the group consisting of Ashley Hutchings, Simon Nicol, the singer and multinstrumentista Sue Harris, drummer Roger Swallow, guitarist and keyboardist Martin Carthy, accordionist and vocalist John Kirkpatrick, the Albion Country Band saved in the Island Lp " Battle of the Field "(1973), an album produced by John Wood would not light until 1976. The changing nature of the Albion Country Band segregó different ramifications and reunions with other names such as The Albion Dance Band or simply The Albion Band. Under the name The Albion Band Dance posted an interesting album "The prospect before us" (1977) and under the name of The Albion Band remarkable Lps as "Rise up like the sun" (1978) or "Lark rise to candleford" ( 1980). This internal disintegration caused each component work with a host of bands in the same style, while throwing to market its own proposals alone. The Albion Band, always under the auspices of Ashley Hutchings, would be renovated in time with young talented folk emerged in the British Isles.
